  1. Signups for those interested in playing boys tennis this spring will be on the front counter through Thursday. There will be a meeting on Thursday after school in C-20 for those who have signed up. 
  2. Students please remember that you must register for next year’s courses online by March 5th. If you have any questions, please see your counselor. 
  3. Terrace Park Country Club is seeking to add some new caddies this season. Any student at least 14 years old can apply. No prior experience required. An organizational meeting will be held next Tuesday, March 6 at 4:00. See the flier in the Guidance Office for further information. 
  4. AFS Club members are reminded to attend the International Potluck dinner tonight starting promptly at 6:00 pm in the high school commons. 
  5. A WARRIOR WELCOME to the visiting AFS students today representing the following countries: Bolivia, Italy, Hong Kong, Iceland, Japan, Indonesia, Colombia, Paraguay, Spain, Denmark, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Portugal, Turkey, France, India. 
  6. Kentucky Wesleyan University will be visiting on Monday, arch 5 at 1:00. Students interested in speaking with the representative should come to the Guidance Office. 
  7. Today’s musical rehearsal is cancelled. ALL rehearsals next week are FULL CAST – please check the calendar for times. Please have all lines/songs memorized by Monday. 
  8. ATTENTION CAST OF ANNIE – if you would like to purchase a cast t-shirt please sign up on Mrs. McGahey’s door. The cost is $12.00 and t-shirts must be paid for by Tuesday March 6th (or we will not order you one) Money can be given to Mrs. McGahey or Lizzie Deadrick. 
  9. Attention all art students who have been invited to enter the Governor’s Youth Art Exhibit. You must turn in your registration forms and fees to Mrs. Richardson and Mrs. Lair by tomorrow (Thursday) in order to have your work entered into the show this weekend. Registration forms & fees can be dropped off in the school office or brought to one of the art rooms. Thank you.

  6. The Mariemont Latin club returned home from another successful State Latin Convention this Sunday. Sophomore Evan Doran led Mariemont’s delegation by winning 41 points and finishing 5th overall in Creative Contests – the first Mariemont student to achieve a top-ten sweepstakes finish. Junior Kyle Greathouse again dazzled in the graphic arts categories winning first place in oil & acrylic Painting and mixed media and second in ink drawing. For the second straight year, Kyle’s work was given the extraordinary title “Best-In-Show”, having been named the finest piece of two-dimensional art of the thousands entered. The Level II Certamen team of Sarah Blatt, Evan Doran, Ryden Lewis and Dylan Battison advanced to the Semi-Finals and placed 7th in the state. Many students placed in the top ten in various categories and a complete list will be posted on the Mariemont Latin Club bulletin board outside the Latin classroom. 
  7. ATTENTION ALL SENIORS INVOLVED WITH THE CAST AND CREW OF ANNIE: A senior group photo will be taken right after school today on the stage. Please be there by 3pm for a quick photo. 
  8. All girls basketball team members need to remove any personal items and lock from lockers in locker room today. 
  9. CONGRATULATIONS to the swim teams on their amazing top 10 finishes at the Ohio High School State Swimming Championships this past weekend. The Girls’ Team finished 6th and the Boys’ Team finished 8th. Nate Wagner is the STATE CHAMPION in the 100 free! He also finished 4th in the 200 Free. The “Claires” (Mongenas and Gilmore) placed 4th in their respective events…Mongenas in the 100 Breast and Gilmore in the 100 Free. Claire Mongenas also snagged 12th in the 200 I.M. Sam McManus swam to a 14th place in the 100 Back. Freshman Mac Lewis placed 15th in the 100 Back and 18th in the 200 I.M. in his first State Meet. Lindsey Serraino was 20th in the 100 Free and Mackenzie Shelley was 24th in the 50 Free. All 6 relays made finals with all 3 Girls’ relays making podium. The 200 Free Relay (Gilmore, Mongenas, Serraino and Rebecca Adams) and the 400 Free Relay (Shelley, Adams, Serraino and Gilmore) were 5th while the 200 Medley Relay (Maddie Richards, Mongenas, Shelley and Serraino) was 6th. The Boys’ 400 Free Relay (Lewis, Sam McManus, Connor McManus and Wagner) placed the highest with a 4th place and just missed the school record. The 200 Free Relay (Wagner, S. McManus, C. McManus and Ben Gorman) was 13th while the 200 Medley Relay (Lewis, S. McManus, C. McManus and Gorman) was 15th. Thanks for representing Mariemont so well and keeping the excellent tradition of the Water Warriors going!

3.The wrestling team took 5th place at Sectionals over the weekend. The placers were Trevor Cash 4th, Dominick Butler and Riley Henderson 3rd, Dave Quiambao 2nd and James Tecco 1st.

4.ATTENTION KEY CLUB MEMBERS: There will be a 15 minute Key Club meeting today after school in C20.

  4. Congratulations to the ORCHESTRA members that competed in the OMEA District 14 Solo and Ensemble Contest this past weekend. Out of our 27 events that competed, we had 14 “Superior” ratings (the highest rating possible) and 9 “Excellent” ratings (the second highest rating). The performers who received a “Superior” rating for solos were: Liz Buechel, Scottie Leach, Caleb Middlebrook, Ashley Moulton, Brenna Biggs and Emma Welch. String Ensemble Members that received a SUPERIOR include: Celia Ahrens, Erica Weeks, Carly Stelzer, Natalie Utt, Kieran Phelan, Katie Gaburo, Elizabeth Buechel, Ariel Harvat, Aly Croll, Gavin Smith, Garry Le, Katie Peters, Josh Keyes, Emma Welch, Caleb Middlebrook, Peter Laug, Jonathan Dietz, Ashley Moulton, Aubrey Reynolds, Adrienne Bruggeman and Walker VanHook. The MHS Chamber Ensemble also received a SUPERIOR Rating as a class string choir performance. The solo performers who received an “Excellent” rating were Ariel Harvat, Shannon Hogan, Garrett Fields and Ally Croll. Ensemble Members who received an “Excellent” rating include: Julianna Overbey, Hunter Theirs, Nick Walter, Rob Troller, Steve Hassey, Jake Huskey, Brenna Biggs, Adrienne Bruggeman, Alice Barnes, Karin Long, Garrett Fields, Erica Grant, Morgan Beck & RyRy Williams. Congratulations on all of these fantastic performances.

  4. The Lady Warriors celebrated Senior Night with a 53-27 victory over Deer Park last night. The team went on a 29-8 second half run. Contributing to the win were Meredith Garrison with 13 points and Julia Whittelsey with 7 rebounds. Congrats to seniors who led the team all year long: Julia Ayerbe, Shelby Krimmer, Abby Mathis, Elizabeth Keller and Elizabeth McCracken. A special thanks to the pep band, cheerleaders and students who came out to support the girls!

3.Make plans to come out and support your Warriors this week, as the boy basketball Warriors host Reading tonight. The girls basketball Warriors will host Deer Park tomorrow as we honor our seniors at 7:00 p.m., and the boys basketball hoopsters will host Taylor on Friday as we honor our senior boys basketball players and cheerleaders. Let’s pack the house for these last 3 games.

5. ATTENTION TEACHERS - CERTIFIED POOL MANAGER NEEDED – The Fairfax Swim Club is hiring a part-time manager. This position is under the supervision of the pool board, manages the day to day of the pool while also overseeing the lifeguards on duty. This should require you to work 25-30 hours per week and is a seasonal part-time position. Must have your high school diploma, American Red Cross certification as a life guard and CPR training. 1.Attention Members of Environmental Club: Please sign up for second semester recycling dates THIS WEEK on the lists outside of Mrs. Dierker’s room. If you do not sign up for recycling dates this week, you will be assigned to available dates.

2.Have you ever wanted to be on The Amazing Race? Or wanted to race around Cincinnati with your friends? Well, here is your chance! Come join Unified 4 Unifat in Cincinnati’s first Amazing Race. You will be competing against other teams from around the city in challenges that will both raise awareness and your knowledge of the average life of a Unifat student. For only $25 per person (4 Person Limit) you will receive U4U shirt, admission to a city wide mixer, five service hours, and you will be guaranteed loads of fun! Registration forms will be outside of Mrs. Leatherwood’s door. Register by Feb. 15th! Return the registration forms to Ashley Dockery or Maud Schram. The Amazing Race is March 17th beginning at Moeller High School.

3.ATTENTION TEACHERS: Recycling is today. Please have a student bring your bin to the pool doors by 2:00.

3.Congratulations to Karyn Georgilis, whole photograph was selected as a finalist for the 32nd Annual College & High School Photography Contest co-sponsored by Nikon and Photographer’s Forum magazine. Over 18,000 photographs were entered from the U.S., Canada and around the world. Because Karyn’s photo was chosen as a finalist, her photo will be published in the hardcover book, Best of College & High School Photography 2012. Her photo now goes on to compete in the final round of judging. Way to go Karyn!!!

4.Senior night forms for boys and girls basketball, cheerleading are due to Mr. Nerl yesterday.

6. Starting this week, users will need to provide a department ID and pin when copying on the Canon printers. Staff members will use a 4 digit pin, and students will use their student ID number (see email for details). Enter this number for both the "department ID number" and the pin.
