2. Tickets for Saturday afternoon’s basketball game against Madeira at the Cintas Center are on sale all week in the office for $10. Tickets get you in for all four CHL games beginning at noon. Tickets at the game are $12.

3. Don’t forget that yearbooks are still on sale. As soon as 2012 hits, prices jump by ten dollars. Get your yearbook now while the prices are still low.

6. A one-of-a-kind holiday ornament is being sold by the Destination Imagination Team at Starbucks on Wooster Pike in Mariemont on Saturday, December 17th from 8:00 am until noon. The 3-inch ball ornaments are $10 each and they represent the first in a series depicting Mariemont landmarks. 7. The date for the MHS Snowball Dance has been changed due to numerous schedule conflicts. The new date for the event will be Saturday, January 21st, from 9:00 p.m. until 12:00 a.m. Tickets will go on sale the week of January 16th.

8. Reminder: Fiber Arts students must turn in signed permission slip and $6.00 admission charge for Freedom Center field trip to Mrs. Lair before leaving for Winter Break.

4. Congratulations to the Water Warriors on their dominating victory over McNick and Purcell Marian yesterday. Standout Nate Wagner not only won both of his events, but he recorded 2 times that are on the all time Mariemont High School Top Ten List!. Other double event winners were Rebecca Adams, Connor McManus, Claire Mongenas, Claire Gilmore and Mac Lewis. Impressive times were also recorded by Ingrid Mongenas, Nick Walter, Neil Stehling and Maeve Harrington. Good luck to the Water Warriors as they travel to Toledo this weekend!

9. Our Water Warriors are off to their winning ways again this season. Both teams scored overwhelming victories over league rivals Indian Hill and Taylor yesterday. Double event winners were Rebecca Adams, Ben Gorman, George Koglmeier and Claire Gilmore. Other notable swims were turned in by Kaila Roberts, Julia Saxton, Neil Stehling, Sam McManus, Katie Gaburo and Gretchen Wittry. Congratulations to Luke Porst and Drew Serraino for their impressive swims in just their first meet. Be sure to stop by the pool next Monday to see the Warriors’ next home meet.

4. Co-captains Elizabeth Keller and Elizabeth McCracken led the Lady Warriors to their second victory in as many games with a 53-17 win over visiting Roger Bacon on Saturday. All starters scored led by Meredith Garrison with 13 points and Julia Whittelsey with 11. The girls enter league play at Wyoming this Wednesday.

4. Congratulations to the Lady Warriors on their 59-47 victory last night over the Cavaliers of Purcell Marian! Meredith Garrison led all scorers with 32 points and 10 rebounds to lead the team in their first win of the new season. Julia Whittelsey chipped in 10 points from the perimeter, followed by Emma Griffith, Elizabeth Keller, Haley Jacobs and Elizabeth McCracken pouring in another 17 points. First home game is here tomorrow vs. Roger Bacon. JV tipoff at 1:00 followed by varsity at 2:30.

The results of the Key Club sponsored breakfast are as follows: In 3rd place Mr. Books 1st bell class, in 2nd place Mrs. Timmerding’s room, and finally 1st place Mrs. Bell’s class. Thanks again for the generous donations.

1. Driver’s Ed classes will begin on November 30th and run December 1 thru 8 from 3:00 to 7:00. Cost is $350. Information and registration forms are available in the Guidance Office.

2. From now until Holiday Fair, the library will clear $1.00 of library fines for every book or DVD donated to the book club used book sale.

3. Information for entering a basketball team in the Rec Basketball League is available on the front counter. Registration closes soon. Just a reminder, if you are playing on a school team, you cannot play in the rec league.

4. Mackenzie Miller, graduate of 2010, will be here on Monday afternoon, November 21st right after school, in C-20 to speak with students about college life and her experiences at Vanderbilt. Come by, ask questions and hear, first hand, what to expect when it’s your time to head off to college.

The first bell class to bring in the most canned goods per student during the week will win a Free Breakfast. Please help those in need during this time of Thanksgiving and bring in canned goods. So far in the competition, Mr. Wainscott’s class is in 1st place, Mrs. Bell’s class is in 2nd place and finally, Mr. Ferry’s class is in 3rd place. Great Job – keep bringing in canned goods.

2. The Department of Engineering at the University of Cincinnati will be here today at 1:00 to do a presentation on their new undergrad major, Environmental Engineering. Check out what this new major could do for you. Also Thursday, at 2:00, a representative from the University of Kentucky will be visiting. Interested students should report to C-20 for these opportunities.

6. At the Wyoming Certamen Saturday, the sophomore team of Evan Doran & Sarah Blatt took 2nd place of the 12 competing teams from 11 schools. The other team of Ryden Lewis, Dylan Battison and David Quiambao took fourth.

7. Congratulations to Kelly Kauffmann, Isabel Lewis, Madeline Richards and Lindsey Siegfried who performed in the District 14 Honor choir over the weekend at Milford High School. These singers were chosen among the best singers in the area and performed with over 100 singers from over 15 area schools.

It is sometimes easy to forget or take for granted what our fellow Americans do to keep us safe and protect our freedom. 2. Mrs. Khamis’ 4th & 5th bell classes are to go to study hall today – 5th bell students are to go to 1st bell lunch and then to Study Hall.

3. Congratulations to the Boys Varsity Cross Country team for placing 3rd at the Division III State Championships held at National Trail Raceway in Hebron. It ranks as the best finish in Mariemont history for Cross Country. The team was led by Nathan Kuck and then followed by Emmett Saulnier, Bryan Routt, Ben Gorman, Cooper Hayes, Luke Porst and Connor McManus. Juliana Overbey was one of only 4 girls from the CHL that competed at the State level finishing 99th. Juliana and the boys team will be honored tonight at the Board of Education meeting at 7:00 in the Junior High cafeteria. The runners and Coach T would like to thank Mr. Nerl and the “Warrior Nation” for all their support.

4. Focus students grades 9-12 who are not attending the pizza party today should report to Mrs. Bell’s room promptly as Mr. Crosby will be taking attendance.

5. 4th bell study hall will meet in the commons today.

7. The Fiber Arts class is in need of old electric skillets that still work. Students will be using them to melt wax for batiks. It doesn’t matter if the skillets are scratched or dented as long as the heating element works. If you can help us out, please drop the electric skillets off at the office or Mrs. Lair’s room.



8. There will be a Student Council meeting in Mr. Hanley’s room on Wednesday at 7:15 am.



9. The Greater Cincinnati Golf Coaches Association and the Enquirer recently announced their All-Star recognition for Division I, II and III. Senior Captain, Mag Long was named All-City Second Team. Freshman, Will Grimmer was named to the 1st Team and also named Player of the Year for Division II & III.



10. Chess Club has been canceled for today.

1. The Mattress Sale Fund Raiser is November 5th from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at the high school. We need 40-50 students to assist with a signage campaign on the November 5th sale date for 2 hour shifts from 9-11, 11-1, 1-3 & 3-5. There will be a volunteer sign-up on October 31st right after school in the commons. Students can also earn money for referrals which result in a mattress purchase. The incentives range from $25 for 1 referral up to $200 for 5 referrals.

6. The Mariemont Latin Club competed at the Summit Certamen this Saturday. All three levels performed well particularly the sophomore team of Evan Doran, Sarah Blatt and Dylan Battison. Mariemont took 2nd place in the 15 team field, finishing behind only host Summit Country Day.



7. It’s a great day to be a Warrior. The Boys Varsity Cross Country team took care of business and finished in 1st place at the Division III Regional Championships at Troy. It is a first Regional title for Mariemont High School. Leading the way for the Warriors was Nathan Kuck. Nathan, finished in a personal best time and along with Emmett Saulnier and Ben Gorman were awarded All Regional honors for their top 16 finish. Finishing out the State qualifying team were Bryan Routt, “The Young Freshman” Cooper Hayes, Luke Porst and Connor McManus. The boys will not go alone as Freshman Juliana Overbey finished in 14th place for her State qualifying run. The girls finished 7th in the Region as the best finish in the last 7 years. The runners/coaches and parents want to thank the Warrior Nation for all your cheers and enthusiasm. We’d like a repeat of that at State. The State invitational is at the National Trail Raceway in Hebron, just east of Columbus. The times for the races stay the same, girls at 11:00 am and the boys at 1:30. See infor for the Spirit Bus in the front office sometime this week. We hope to see you there!

The party will begin at 7:00 a.m. in the lower library with food, a photo booth, and trivia games. Barnes and Noble Gift Cards will be awarded to the Most Original Costume, Most Obscure Costume, and the Best Overall Costume. See Mrs. Colpi for details.

  6. Do you want to support the Boys and Girls Cross Country teams in their quest for a State qualifying run? We are going to make it easy for you to do that. There is going to be a spirit bus on Saturday and the Invitational is free to everyone watching. The sign up sheet is in the front office. The bus will leave the HS bus turnaround at 8:30 and get to Troy in time to see the girls run at 11:00 and the boys at 1:30. We need a certain count to justify the bus, so sign up now!!! 
  7. Anyone interested in trying out for cheerleading for basketball season should sign up on the counter in the office. 
  8. The Mattress Sale Fund Raiser is November 5th from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at the high school. We need 40-50 students to assist with a signage campaign on the November 5th sale date for 2 hour shifts from 9-11, 11-1, 1-3 & 3-5. There will be a volunteer sign-up on October 31st right after school in the commons. Students can also earn money for referrals which result in a mattress purchase. The incentives range from $25 for 1 referral up to $200 for 5 referrals. 
  9. Attention Showstoppers – rehearsal on Friday will be dancers only from 1:30-2:30.

  6. Congratulations to the Girls and Boys Varsity Cross Country teams for placing 1st at the Division III district Championships. It is the first time that the teams have both won District titles in the same year! Freshman Juliana Overbey was the overall champion at the race with a personal best time. Also scoring for the Warriors were Jennifer Saxton, Claire Gilmore, Makayla Valentine and Kate Uehlin. All 5 of the freshman finished with All District Honors by placing in the top 16. Rounding out the team were Taylor Giordullo and Mara Coyan. The boys were led by Emmett Saulnier in their win. Emmett finished the race with a personal best time under 17:00 minutes. All 7 boys finished the race in the top 16 giving them All District Honors as well. They were Nathan Kuck, Ben Gorman, Bryan Routt, (the young freshman – Cooper Hayes), Luke Porst and Connor McManus. The Cross Country team would like to say a special thanks to Mrs. Wagner, the Pep Band Members and all the students that came to cheer us on. The teams will travel this week to Troy where our quest for a State qualifying run continues. We hope that you can come be a part of the “Warrior Nation”
  7. Mock Trial: The first Mock Trial practice will be today after school in Mr. Wolfford’s Room. Read the case by Wednesday’s practice.

  2. Leadership Council will now meet on Wednesday, October 19, directly after school in C-20. 
  3. All NHS members, new and old, please attend a brief meeting today, immediately after school in C-20 to welcome new members and plan the Induction ceremony. 
  4. Representatives from the University of Cincinnati will be visiting today at 10:30 and Bowling Green University will be visiting at 10:30 on Wednesday. 
  5. Congratulations to the Boys Cross Country team for placing 1st for the 3rd straight year at the CHL Championships held at Sharon Woods on Saturday. Ben Gorman won the race and was named “Runner of the Year” as well as 1st team All CHL. Other runners qualifying for 1st team All CHL were Nathan Kuck, Emmett Saulnier, Cooper Hayes and Bryan Routt. Luke Porst was 9th in the race and received 2nd team All CHL honors. The girls finished 3rd with Juliana Overbey finishing 4th with 1st team All CHL honors and Claire Gilmore finishing 11th with 2nd team All CHL honors. The other girls scoring for the Lady Warriors were Jennifer Saxton, Kate Uehlin and Makayla Valentine. Both teams want to thank all those that attended the invite to show your support. The teams will compete at Districts at the Voice of American Park. See runners for info on times and directions.

The Girls and Boys Varsity Cross Country teams are inviting everyone to Sharon Woods on Saturday morning for the CHL Championship Invitational. The boys are going for a “first ever” third title for a Mariemont Cross Country team and the girls are going for their first! The girl’s race is at 1:30 and the boy’s is at 12:15. Come cheer the team on to what could be a historic day!
Representatives from the University of Cincinnati will be visiting on Tuesday at 10:30 and Bowling Green University will be visiting at 10:30 on Wednesday.
The Lady Warrior Volleyball team completed their regular season last night with a thrilling win over Taylor. The victory secured a 2nd place finish in the league, which is the highest league finish for Mariemont Volleyball in recent years. The Lady Warriors played outstanding defense with a record high 146 digs, including Morgan Renner with 6, Payton Coates with 17, Emily McGraw with 19, Kendall Harden & Jade Weber each with 20, Caitlyn Iredale with 25 and Quincy Taylor with 39. Also key to the Warrior success were six blocks each for Grace Fening and Quincy Taylor. Congratulations Lady Warrior Volleyball!

  5. Congratulations to the Boys Cross Country team for placing 2nd at the Centerville Stampede on Saturday. The scoring runners were Ben Gorman, Cooper Hayes, Nathan Kuck, Luke Porst and Bryan Routt. The girls finished a career best 5th place at this race with the top runners being Juliana Overbey, Claire Gilmore, Jennifer Saxton, Taylor Giordullo and Kate Uehlin. Both teams will be competing at the CHL Championships this Saturday at Sharon Woods. Look for signs around the school for more information. The Running Warriors would appreciate any support that you can give as both the boys and girls will be fighting for a 1st place finish.
  6. Congratulations to Griffin Rolander and Alec Ahrens for winning the A Fleet at the Great Oaks Qualifier sailing regatta in Culver, Indiana this weekend. The win secures them a berth at the Great Oaks National Regatta in New Orleans next month where they will represent Mariemont and compete against 35 qualifying high school teams from around the nation. Nick Weston competed in the B Fleet at Culver, helping Mariemont to a 2nd place overall finish.

1.      Colleges that will be visiting today:  Davidson College at 8:30, Case Western Reserve at 9:30, Furman University at 10:30, St. John’s University at 1:00 and the University of Evansville at 2:00.  On Friday the following colleges will be visiting:  8:30 – Vanderbilt, 9:30 – Wofford College, 10:30 – Trinity College, 1:00 – Northern Kentucky University and 2:00 – University of Michigan.


2.      Senior athletes are reminded to turn in Senior Night forms to Mr. Nerl ASAP.
 

3.      Students planning to take the PSAT need to get $14.00 to the guidance office by Friday.
 

4.      Come cheer on the Warrior football team Friday night at Deer Park.  It is Jersey night.  Chipotle gift cards will be given out to the 3 most spirited fans.
